Radiation monitoring system Yantar
Stationary system for detecting fissile and radioactive materials during vehicle control.
Purpose
Automatic detection of gamma and neutron radiation sources in cargo transported through the control zone using vehicles.
Radiation portal monitors of the Yantar-S/SN series have a universal purpose and are used to organize radiation monitoring at various types of objects, providing the necessary levels of detection of fissile and radioactive substances in accordance with customer requirements for the effective monitoring area, object geometry and speed.
Design
Radiation portal monitors of the Yantar-S/SN series are racks installed opposite each other along the border of the control zone. Gamma and neutron detectors or only gamma detectors and electronics units are placed inside the racks. Radiation monitors are equipped with sound and light alarms, as well as indications for diagnosing performance.
The use of lead screens for gamma detectors makes it possible to increase the efficiency of detecting gamma radiation sources.
Presence sensors ensure reliable detection of a vehicle in the control zone even in difficult weather conditions.
The design of racks, detectors and electronics units ensures their protection from environmental influences, including high humidity and salt fog.
Radiation monitors provide data transfer to a control panel or to a computer with specialized software installed.
The selection of a specific model from the Yantar-S/SN series, as well as the approval of non-standard solutions, including single-rack versions, is carried out taking into account the characteristics of installation sites and the requirements for minimum detectable quantities of radioactive and nuclear materials.
The values in the “Characteristics” section are given for a two-rack system with gamma and neutron detectors “Yantar-2SN”.
When working as part of the Complex, the radiation monitor can be equipped with a video camera to record an alarm event.
