Automated gamma radiation dosimetric installation UDGA-RM9100
Description
The installation is designed for verification, calibration, calibration and testing in a collimated beam of gamma radiation (created by reference sources 241Am, 137Cs, 60Co and others) of instruments for measuring exposure dose and exposure dose rate, kerma and kerma rate in air, ambient dose equivalent and ambient dose equivalent rate, individual dose equivalent and individual dose equivalent rate.
The installation is safe for personnel and the public. Radiation exposure during operation, malfunction or accident is limited to the working chamber.
The installation is intended for laboratories of metrological services and enterprises involved in the development and production of dosimetric equipment.
Operating principle
The installation implements an irradiation scheme with one fixed multi-position irradiator and a system of linear movement of the work table (SLM). Changing the values of dosimetric quantities reproduced in the installation is achieved by using gamma radiation sources of various activities and changing the distance between the source and the detector within the range of operating distances of the installation. Control of the selection of a source in the irradiator drum, the output of the selected source to the working position and the positioning of the device under test in the radiation beam of the installation is carried out by the operator remotely from the installation control panel or using special metrological software installed on a PC.
Advantages
- The operation of multi-position irradiators MO12 and MO14 with radiation sources is carried out remotely
- The design of the unit ensures its safe operation in any emergency situations
- All parts and assemblies of the irradiator that are in contact with sources do not require maintenance during the entire service life of the installation
- The use of cylindrical guides, bearing supports and a toothed belt ensures positioning accuracy, high speed and silent operation of the linear motion system (LMS)
- The procedure for measuring the anisotropy of sensitivity of dosimeters has been automated
- It is possible to remotely (from the operator’s room) connect various stands and devices installed on the desktop
- The installation control system, based on industrial automation, ensures reliable and trouble-free operation for the entire life of the installation
- The unit's control panel display has a simple, intuitive and clear menu. For more convenient operation, various text messages about violations and prompts for the operator in case of incorrect actions are displayed on the display
- Alarm and interlock systems, together with the installation control system and radiation monitoring system, ensure personnel protection from radiation exposure
Automatic calibration mode
Special software, in addition to the manual mode, provides an automatic calibration mode.
During automatic calibration, the operator needs to select one of the available programs (or set his own), register the device being calibrated in the system, insert it into the cassette and install it on the rotary table. The installation performs all other processes automatically.
The verification results are formalized by issuing a verification certificate in accordance with TKP 8.003-2011. The certificate contains the following information: details of the laboratory conducting the calibration and contacts of the customer company, information about the device being calibrated, conditions for calibration, information about the accreditation of the calibration installation and a table with data on the calibration results.
Available modifications
The installation is available in two modifications:
- UDGA-PM9100 (MO14 irradiator)
- UDGA-PM9101 (MO12 irradiator)
PM9101 differs from PM9100 in the use of radionuclide gamma radiation sources with lower activity.
