Purpose
Automatic detection of gamma and neutron radiation sources moving through the control zone on mail and luggage conveyors.
The Yantar-PB radiation monitor was specially designed for radiation monitoring of large flows of baggage and is the main means of radiation monitoring of baggage and mail at Russian customs checkpoints at airports and post offices.
The ability to integrate with a baggage handling system allows you to accurately identify suspicious objects, significantly reduce response time and minimize interference in the operation of the baggage transport system.
Design
The Yantar-PB radiation monitor consists of a detecting module and a control cabinet mounted on a mounting frame. The detection module includes blocks for detecting sources of gamma and neutron radiation. The control cabinet is equipped with light and sound alarms.
The use of lead screens for a gamma detector makes it possible to increase the efficiency of detecting gamma radiation sources.
The presence sensor is installed on the mounting frame or on the sides of the conveyor (at the customer’s request) and signals the entry and exit of an object from the controlled space.
The Yantar-PB radiation monitor provides data transfer to a control panel or to a computer with specialized software installed.
The height of the control zone is determined by the customer in the range from 0.7 to 1.5 m, taking into account the manufacturer’s recommendations. Coordination of non-standard solutions is carried out taking into account the characteristics of installation sites and the requirements for minimum detectable quantities of radioactive and nuclear materials.
