Inspection lights use lamps with a mirror reflector as a light source. Forensic screening devices emit switchable ultraviolet and white light. Many devices have the ability to switch from high beam to low beam and vice versa.

Ultraviolet lamps are recommended for use by subway, railway, sea and river transport services, at industrial and strategic facilities.

The power source is a built-in rechargeable battery or AA batteries. The inspection lights are equipped with a charger that runs from the mains or car cigarette lighter.
