Operating principle
The detectors scan a person passing through the arch with X-rays. They are divided into single-zone and multi-zone. Zoning is the main characteristic of a detector. The location of the scanning zone allows the operator to quickly and accurately determine where a person is hiding a metal object.
If the person being searched has hidden metal objects, the device provides light and sound indicators. In this case, it is necessary to conduct an additional inspection using a hand-held metal detector. Screening with hand-held metal detectors takes longer.
After checking with a hand-held detector, the person passes through the metal detector arch again. The procedure is repeated until all items are found.
Characteristics
An arched single-zone metal detector detects metal objects of a certain weight and size, but may not show their exact location on the human body.
The sensitivity of the devices is different and depends on the location of the sensors on the arch. Light and sound indicators are located in monodevices on a crossbar or remote block.
Single-zone metal detectors for localizing hazardous objects are used in many places:
- in crowded places;
- at train stations and airports;
- in shopping centers;
- in banks.
The device is supplied disassembled. Setup and installation also do not require special knowledge.
